Reversal of Dilated Cardiomyopathy After Successful Radio-Frequency Ablation of Frequent Atrial Premature Beats, a New Cause for Arrhythmia-Induced Cardiomyopathy.

چکیده
Incessant atrial premature beats as a potential cause for tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy was suspected in a patient presenting with dilated non-ischemic cardiomyopathy and severely altered left ventricular ejection fraction. The elimination of a left atrial focus by percutaneous RF ablation led to normalization of the clinical status, of atrial and ventricular dimensions and left ventricular systolic function.

Resolution of cardiomyopathy after ablation of atrial flutter.
OBJECTIVES We sought to serially assess left ventricular (LV) function before and after catheter ablation of atrial flutter (AFI). BACKGROUND The relation of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy to AFI and its response to direct catheter ablation are unknown. METHODS LV function was assessed in a series of 59 consecutive patients with successful radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of AFI before and...
متن کاملTachycardia mediated cardiomyopathy: pathophysiology, mechanisms, clinical features and management.
Tachycardia mediated cardiomyopathy (TMC) is a reversible form of dilated cardiomyopathy that can occur with most supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. Despite the plethora of literature describing this entity in animal models, as well as humans, it remains poorly understood. Over the last decade, new etiologies of TMC, such as frequent premature ventricular complexes in normal hearts, ...
متن کاملA case of cardiomyopathy induced by premature ventricular complexes.
Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy is a well-known and reversible condition, but the left ventricular dysfunction caused by frequent isolated premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) has been rarely reported. Apparent dilated cardiomyopathy was resolved in a patient after the focal source of PVCs was eliminated by radiofrequency catheter ablation. Echocardiography showed progressive improvement o...
متن کاملTachycardiomyopathy Induced by Ventricular Premature Complexes: Complete Recovery after Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation
Ventricular premature complexes (VPCs) are known to be one of the most benign cardiac arrhythmias when they occur in structurally normal hearts. We experienced a 32-year old man who presented with dyspnea, palpitations and very frequent VPCs (31% of the total heart beats). Echocardiography revealed a dilated left ventricle (LV 66 mm at end-diastole and 57 mm at end-systole) and a decreased ejec...
متن کاملResults of radiofrequency ablation in children with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy.
OBJECTIVE Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (TIC) is a rare but potentially curable cause of dilated cardiomyopathy. Data on radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for TIC is limited. The aim of this study is to present our experience with RFA in children with TIC, retrospectively. METHODS The medical records of patients with TIC and those underwent RFA between 2000-2011 were systematically reviewed....
